XTRAC Excimer Laser

The following are some answers to questions about the XTRAC laser for treatment of psoriasis:

  • Who should consider XTRAC? If you have mild or moderate psoriasis and your current treatment is not helping, you should consider treatment with the XTRAC laser. If you have tried conventional phototherapy and topical steroid treatment and have been disappointed, you will probably get faster results with XTRAC laser treatments.

  • When will I see results? Results will vary with individual patients. Those with mild to moderate psoriasis generally see improvement in 10 or less brief treatment sessions. You may see improvement in as little as one to two treatments.

  • How does XTRAC work? Beams of carefully directed laser light is designed to clear psoriatic skin plaques without damaging healthy skin.

  • Is there any discomfort? Most patients have no pain during treatment. After several visits you may experience a sunburn type response but nothing that would be considered uncomfortable. This often is an indication that adequate doses of laser light was delivered.

  • Is the treatment covered by my insurance? Most major insurance companies cover the procedure. Our office will pre-authorize your treatment prior to your first visit.
